This is just a general guide and everyone's skin is different. Your artist may give more specific aftercare instructions. Please get in touch with your artist if you have any questions or concerns!
Leave the wrap on your tattoo for 24 hours or as your artist recommends. You may experience temporary irritation or slight swelling on the tattooed area (usually subsides within 72 hours), and excess ink and plasma can fill up the wrap on your tattoo. To remove the wrap, gently stretch it on all sides. Removing it under running water can make it less painful.
Keep your tattoo clean! After removing the wrap, wash your tattoo with lukewarm water and mild soap (non-exfoliating and fragrance-free) to remove any ointment, blood, or plasma. Gently pat dry with a clean paper towel.
Moisturize. Apply a very thin layer of the ointment on your tattoo 2-3 times per day for 1-2 weeks when it feels really dry or itchy, or as your artist recommends. Please make sure the tattoo is clean and dry before applying. Your artist may also recommend an alternative to the ointment.
When the tattoo is fully healed (usually takes 2-4 weeks) or no longer peeling, you can switch to using your moisturizer and sunscreen.
Things to avoid while your tattoo is healing:
Exposing your tattoo to direct sunlight.
Wearing tight clothing over the tattoo.
Intense workouts or strenuous activities (over-stretching and excessive sweating).
Soaking your tattoo (swimming, baths, long showers, saunas, excessive sweating, etc.).
Letting your pet(s) lick your tattoo.
Scratching or picking at the scabs.
Touching your tattoo with dirty hands.
